DATES TO SAVE IN 2023
Based upon current information, below is a list of future meetings, trainings, and paddle trips. We will also discuss trip planning at club meetings and any new trips will be added to the list once dates and coordinators are set. You should see formal announcements on this website roughly 3 weeks prior to each event. Signup for paddle trips will not begin until officially announced and, based upon individual circumstances, there may be a limit on the number of paddlers allowed to attend a specific event. If so, signup will be on a first come, first served basis.

SCHEDULED PADDLES:
Hunting Island Paddle (Wednesday, May 15, 12:30 pm, NO RAIN DATE):
The trip from HHP to Hunting Island is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Paddlers need to arrive at the Park by 11:15am. There is a $5 cash entrance fee per senior at the gate. Grab a park map, then proceed straight on Hunting Island Dr. to Parking Lot J. We will unload our kayaks at a picnic spot along the inlet, enjoy a BYO picnic lunch then launch around 12:30 pm. We will be paddling against the tide to the Boneyard Beach, the inlet changes constantly as the sand shifts so we might have to drag our kayaks over short bodies of sand. The turns and sandbars make some of the inlet tight so tandem kayaks may have difficulty and are not encouraged. We will disembark at the beachhead and drag our kayaks up the sand. A monitor will stay with the kayaks to make sure they don't float away! Once there we will have time for a 30ish minute beach stroll before we head back in as the tide turns. Paddling as the tide returns should make for an easy ride back to the picnic area. We should be back and reloaded around 3pm.
This paddle is limited to the first 25 boats. If we have that number we will split into two groups to avoid log jams. Please email me directly at [email protected]. DO NOT RESPOND TO THE KAYAK CLUB EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENT.
This is a BYOK event, but if you would like to attend and need a kayak and transportation please email me and I will broadcast your request to the Club to see if anyone can help.

Combahee River Paddle (Wednesday, May 22, 10:30 am, Rain Date, Thursday, May 23, 10:30 am): Arrive at 10:15 am for a 10:30 am launch at the Sugar Hill Landing. Allow approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes for the trip from HHP. We will launch from a boat ramp into a creek that feeds the Combahee River. We will paddle about a half mile to the Combahee River where we will be able to view several "trunks" (gates to the rice fields) before paddling into the marsh. The paddle will be approximately 2 hours in length and we will hopefully end up back where we started. For those who sign up for it, we plan to have lunch on the way home at Gilligan's Seafood Restaurant, on Rt. 21 in Beaufort. There will be no kayak rentals available for this paddle. There are also no bathroom facilities available at or near the Sugar Hill Landing.
Vanishing Island Paddle (Wednesday, June 17, 11:15 am, NO RAIN DATE): This paddle is being run by Beaufort Kayak Tours, so rentals are available ($65/adult) or BYO kayak ($40/person), This Salt Marsh Ecology Tour is a 2-1/2 hour guided tour, launching from White Hall Boat Landing, just across the bridge, on Lady's Island. Jim and Teri, from Beaufort Kayak Tours, will be handling reservations and rentals. Their contact information, and a post-paddle lunch destination, will be provided at a later date.
